Ildefonso P. Santos, Jr., popularly known as "IP Santos", is recognized as the father of modern Filipino Landscape Architecture. He was declared a National Artist of the Philippines in the field of Architecture in 2006. As an educator, his passion for the profession influenced many generations of Filipino landscape architects while teaching at the University of the Philippines. He taught his students to learn, live, work and build in harmony with nature.
The proceeds of the tournament will benefit the continuation of the PALA projects:
(1) Financial support to deserving Landscape Architecture student through the (proposed) IP Santos Scholastic Fund for the Landscape Architecture Program.
(2) Opening of a library section devoted to Landscape Architecture (IP Santos Section) in Bulacan State University.
(3) Adoption of an open space through the project entitled, PLACE.
